5 month pictures

Haley turned 5 months old today. Where does the time go? She continues to amaze and delight me every day. She's getting so big and so smart.

Here she is with her new friend Sophie (a teething toy). She loves her!

Mmm Oatmeal!

Last week, we attempted to give Haley oatmeal. I was so excited and kept telling her how much fun we were about to have. We put her bib on, strapped her in the highchair, handed her the silver spoon, and all stood around with great anticipation. I mixed the oatmeal by the instructions on the box for the first feed. It ended up being really runny, but I didn't want her to choke, so I left it that way. This is how it went:

It looks like she will love it...

...but it didn't work out that way.

It ended up running all down her chin (which I know will happen, but it was so runny).

She pretty much hated it. She made the worst faces, spit it out, and cried. We didn't force her to do it, but tried several times.

This is the next day. It went a little better and I made the consistency a lot thicker:

She thought she would try something new - eating with her feet.

Messy face!

Here she is in her umbrella stroller being pushed around the house. She's so happy. I love this smiley face that she makes.

We are going to keep doing oatmeal until she is about 6 months. Then we will start doing vegetables and then fruits. Right now, I'm just trying to get her used to the whole solid thing. We'll see...

Still catching up

August (so far)

She is changing so much, literally, every day. One day, she wasn't rolling at all. The next day, she rolled over twice in our bed, which is soft and therefore easier for her to get over her shoulder. Then the next day, she was rolling every five minutes on the hard floor. I'm so amazed at how fast things change. Right now, she is only consistently rolling from her back to her tummy. You may remember that her first roll over was from tummy to back, but she hasn't mastered that yet. She has started to babble a lot. It started with her just "talking" herself to sleep, and then she started doing it more and more mostly when she got sleepy. Next to her laughing, this is the best noise in the world to me. I've tried to capture it on video, but only got a little bit (see below). Recently, she started to do the cutest "wet razzing" sound as one of my books calls it. She puts her lips tightly together and blows with all of the drool. It makes me laugh every time. We plan on starting her on oatmeal this Tuesday. I've already bought all of the stuff and set up her highchair in preparation. I can't wait to move on to this next step.

Talking/fussing herself to sleep one night before bed (I taped the sound on the monitor).

Pool time:

This was her first time in the pool. She wasn't overly thrilled, but I think she had a good time. She probably would have fallen asleep if we would have let her. I bought her a floaty thing, but the YMCA won't let you use it in their pool. Oh well, we'll just have to find another pool then.

Watching daddy blow bubbles. What fun!

Lately she has been sucking in her bottom lip and sucking on it. It's so adorable.

It's like she's saying "Oh mom, you're embarrassing me."

She was getting very sleepy and her little fingers and toes looked like raisins so we decided to get out.

She was exhausted afterwards.

Testing out the highchair:

I think she likes it.

She looks so tiny in the big chair.

Mouth open, ready to eat!

Fun bath time:

Rolling over!

THE END!

(She's going to kill me for that one day, but I can't resist those dimples.)

Time to catch up!

Finally, we have the internet up and running. I have so much to add from the last month.

July

Look at what a year can bring:

Still no internet

Well, we still don't have the internet! I never thought it would be this long, but we may have it by the beginning of next week. I'll post new pics as soon as we get it up and going.

Haley went to the doctor's this past Wednesday for her 4 month checkup. She weighed a whopping 13 lbs. 11 oz. and is 25.5 inches long. I couldn't have been more wrong about her weighing 16 lbs :). Oh well, she feels like 16 lbs to me. She is so heavy these days compared to the tiny little 2-4 pounders at work. She has grown 5 inches since birth which is amazing. Did anyone doubt that she would be tall? She's still in the 50th percentile for weight and 98th for height. She got her shots and cried harder than I have ever seen. It broke my heart! She calmed down before we got to the car and fell asleep before we left the parking lot. She did well for the rest of the day and just slept a little more than usual. She ended up sleeping for 10 and a half hours that night. The next day, however, she ran a low grade temp all day and slept like crazy. I just gave her a lot of Tylenol and by the next day, she was back to her old self.

I'm constantly amazed at how lucky I am. I have the sweetest, smartest, and most precious baby in the world (I'm not biased at all). I love her more than anything and I feel so blessed and grateful every day. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
